Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the Faculty of Developmental Social Work organized a seminar titled “The Impact of Community Participation on Enhancing the Quality of Health Services.” The event aimed to support and activate the role of the community in promoting a culture of patient safety and improving the quality of health services within institutions, in cooperation with the Beni Suef Health Directorate. The seminar was held under the supervision of Dr. Hendawy Abdallah Hassan, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Hani Mostafa Gomaa, Undersecretary of the Beni Suef Health Directorate. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Doaa Sayed Roubi, Director of the Patient Safety Department at the Health Affairs Directorate.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Sherbiny, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hanan Ashry, Head of the Group Work Department; and Dr. Marwa Sayed Gabr, Director of the Sustainable Development Unit, along with a notable presence of students.
The seminar addressed CAI standards and the role of community participation in improving the quality of healthcare, as well as the importance of empowering social work students and preparing them to be effective contributors to patient engagement and to improving communication between the community and health institutions. It also highlighted practical models of how students can support patients psychologically and socially, raise families’ awareness of health procedures, and convey patients’ opinions and feedback to contribute to enhancing the quality of services provided.
Additionally, it emphasized that strengthening community initiatives and implementing workshops and field visits contribute to reinforcing the relationship between health facilities and citizens, and help institutionalize the concept of community participation as a key pillar of healthcare quality.
