Master Title

Evaluation of biochemical and hormonal blood parameters in rats affected with liver disease of different causes.

Master Abstract

This study was designed to compare between paracetamol and thioacetamide as a toxicants cause liver damage and their effect on the hematological parameters, biochemical constituents of blood and hormonal response of rats. Seventy five day old female rats were included in this study which were divided equally into three groups (each 25 rats) as follow: group (C) fed on a balanced ration and considered as the control group, group (P) received orally 500 mg/kg body weight daily for 15 days and group (T) injected thioacetamide 200 mg/kg body weight intrapertonial twice weekly for 3 months. The period of experiment extended to 4 months through which weighing of rats and collection of samples was done. Our data revealed that liver damage occurred in both group and resulted in significant increase in the elevated liver enzymes (ALT, AST and AP), hormonal analysis showed significant increase in (T3, estrogen, cortisol) and non- significant change in (T4 and insulin) hormonal level. In addition, the lipid profile of P and T group, showed significant increase in cholesterol, triglycerides but total lipids and phospholipids showed significant decrease. Furthermore, picture of serum proteins showed significant decrease. We can conclude that, rats given paracetamol and thioacetamide cause different degree of liver damage that led to clear change in hormonal level and biochemical parameters.
