Universities supreme council approves the establishment of the engineering geology program at the Faculty of Geosciences, Beni Suef

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities to start studying in the Engineering Geology program as a new study program at the College of Geosciences (a special program with expenses)
The university president pointed out the importance of the program as it is the only program in the Arab Republic of Egypt that awards a bachelor’s degree in earth sciences (specializing in engineering geology). He added that a group of specialized professors from the Faculties of Earth Sciences, Science and Engineering will teach in this program, and the study system followed in the program is the credit hour system and the program accepts students from the science and mathematics departments
The university president explained that the program aims to prepare geological studies and surface and subsurface geotechnology , which are the basis for engineering construction plans and major cities, and to identify appropriate sites for the establishment of new cities, as well as to determine the most appropriate sites for the construction of dams, tunnels, mines, land roads, airports and the establishment of ports, and Studying and evaluating the engineering properties of building materials, as well as participating in evaluating the environmental risks of current and future constructions
It is worth noting that Dr. Mansour emphasized that the program provides job opportunities for graduates in a number of fields, such as quarries, mines, petroleum, cement and refractory companies, and public and private institutions in the fields of geology and engineering geology, as well as construction companies, engineering consultancies, roads, bridges and urban planning.
